City Wide Hold Up is the annual fundraiser held by the Texas Wranglers to benefit Easter Seals–Central Texas.
The event draws hundreds of volunteers and sends them to street corners throughout Austin to “hold up” passing motorists for change. Over the past seventeen years, with the help of over 8500 volunteers, City Wide Hold Up has raised over $450,000 for Easter Seals in only 80 hours! Our goal for 2017 is $50,000. We can get there with your support!
City Wide Hold Up was the original idea of Marence Daniel Anderson who became a Wrangler in the fall of 1996. Unfortunately, M.D. passed away before his vision was realized, but his closest friends and family became determined to fulfill his dream.
On the morning of November 4th, volunteers will first meet at the parking lot of Easter Seals of Central Texas. From there, volunteers will sign in, grab some complimentary breakfast and meet their other team members that will be on the same corner. After this meeting, volunteers will head out to major street corners around Austin to collect money from passing motorists.
Each team will be led by at least one Texas Wrangler. No volunteer team will be sent out alone. We respectfully ask that all volunteers arrive by 9a so that we may cover some preliminary logistics for the day and serve everyone breakfast! We will head out to the corners @ 10a and have everyone back by 2p. Please plan your day accordingly, and we will do our best to ensure that the day goes as quickly and smoothly as possible is. All volunteers will receive an event t-shirt to wear during their shift. After all the volunteers make it back to Mike A. Myers parking lot. Volunteers may sign up here. We will provide lunch and live music to celebrate a great day of service.
Student organizations and groups are encouraged to sign up under their organization name so that they can be placed at the same corner. If you have any special requests, questions, or comments, please indicate them during the registration process.
Thank you for making a donation to Easter Seals. Easter Seals provides crucial support services for children and adults challenged by a wide variety of disabilities including autism, speech impediments, and mental illness. These providers hope to grant independence back to the individuals that come looking for their help.
The organization serves 21 counties in the Austin and surrounding areas, and is continually looking for ways to fund programs and services for their clients. Please keep in mind 100% of your donation will go directly towards these services and that no donation is too large or small.
The donations raised by City Wide Hold Up directly fund many of Easter Seals programs, making them available to people with disabilities free of charge. Thanks to the Easter Seals’ programs:
